My fascination with ideas goes back to my early days growing up in – what in a Canadian context would often be classified as – a tough environment. With not much going on around us, us being my younger sister and I, our ideas were our imaginary jet streams that we rode to give shape to – what was often considered – beyond reach. Sure enough, the ideas started inspiring dreams … and with dreams came a desire, and then a passion, to try and reach for the beyond reach. My early dreams were fairly simple … I wanted to visit Riverdale – come on that’s where Archie lives – and I wanted to eat a Sundae at Uncle Pop’s. And I was fairly steadfast in my desire to realize that dream … and believe it or not … thats was (for the longest time) the primary reason for me to work for a scholarship for US …
What triggered this thought was a question that I got asked today morning. What was my primary driver for conceiving and developing TalentBridge and what do I look for when I am qualifying students … and without giving it a second thought I said … “Ideas and Dreams” … that is what inspired me to create TalentBridge and that is what I am always seeking while looking to surround myself with people I know I will enjoy working with. If there is one defining thing about our community at TalentBridge, it is our collective ability to think big and dream bigger … and that alone has made all the effort I have put into the program so worth it. A lot has been said about the power of ideas and the potential of dreams, and quite eloquently and in much detail. All I can add is, Riverdale was a dream and it all started with an idea one (incredibly hot) afternoon when my sister turned to me and said … “hey I have an idea …”
